Jet ventilation should be considered when there is a need for high frequency ventilation and oscillation is contraindicated (as listed in the preceding section), such as in air leak or asymmetric lung disease. The Jet ventilator can also be used for alveolar "recruitment" by finding the "Optimal PEEP".
