Shock Scenario - 1 year old with fever
NM is a previously healthy child developed
low grade fever, cough, and runny nose two days ago. She was alert and playful
until this morning, when she seemed sicker and less active. Her parents
brought her in to your office because she became more lethargic over the
last hour. Your office staff becomes concerned when the parents approach
the desk, carrying their child and ask you to see him right away.
When you see the child, you drop everything and rush her
to an examination room.
