Dana E. Johnson, M.D., Ph.D.
Dana E. Johnson, M.D., Ph.D., is a professor in the Division of Neonatology. He earned his M.D., and a Ph.D. in Anatomy, served his internship and residency, and completed his neonatology fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Johnson co-founded the International Adoption Clinic in 1986. His research interests include the effects of early institutionalization on growth and development and the outcomes of internationally adopted children. Dr. Johnson has published extensively, is an invited speaker worldwide, and is often sought for comment by the media (most recently People magazine). Highly regarded in the international adoption community, he has been awarded the prestigious Harry Hold Award (Holt International Family Services), Friend of Children Award (North American Council on Adoptable Children) and Service Award (Joint Council on International Children's Services). Dr. Johnson is Director of Orphan Medicine. His son was adopted from India.
