Adoption Medicine Elective

PEDSGLOB Megan Bresnahan Ethiopia Presentation

This elective gives residents a chance to work with families both pre and post adoption, and an introduction to the issues common to both domestic and internationally adopted children. The 3-4 week elective includes:

  • two mornings per week in International Adoption Clinic
  • orientation to adoption medicine
  • didactics in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, social emotional and cognitive development, OT/PT, uncommon diagnoses, and orphan issues in Africa
  • pre-adoption medical reviews

Residents must be able to spend a minimum of 20 a.m. and p.m. blocks with this elective. Contact Ann Fandrey to sign up.
