Reviewer infoReviewers are "on call" for reviews on a week-by-week basis. Your referral (or update) will be reviewed by whoever is on call, either Judith Eckerle Kang, Cynthia Howard, or Dana Johnson.
What's included

Review is by phone or email, whichever is your preference. We will give comprehensive review of any medical, photos and video information you are able to provide. We will comment on growth, development, infectious disease status, and any other information in the referral.  We are also happy to review any updates or supplemental information you receive after the initial referral (no extra donation requested; it is included in your initial donation).  If you are requesting a phone call and would like to conference with your spouse or partner, please let us know available dates and times.

If you have additional questions after receiving the initial review, you can either ask them via the online Q&A system, or via email or phone.

For travelersWe are happy to work with you while abroad. Click here for more information.
Domestic adoptionWe will also review any available health history on birth mother.
Office hours8a - 4:30p CST, Monday - Friday
TranslationUnfortunately, we cannot translate medical information. Please have it translated before sending it to us. If you don't know where to get a translator, you can click here for resources.
Partial referralPlease send as much information at once as possible. If you were given only a partial referral but know that you will receive the rest of it soon, it is easiest if you can send all of it at the same time. We will review the information as quickly as possible.
Clinic services

We offer post-adoption clinic services, too.  Click here for available clinic services.

Waiver letters

If you would like us to provide a letter to attempt to have the child's country of origin waive the waiting period sometimes required prior to adoption, please email your request to iac@umn.edu (this service is open only to families who use our preadoption consultation service). Include your home address, full official name of the child as she/he is known to the orphanage, and official date of birth. We will provide two original copies of the letter, signed by a reviewer and notarized by a notary public who is commissioned by the State of Minnesota. Since this service requires additional staff time and resources, we ask that you make an additional donation in the amount of $150.00. Click here to make an additional gift.
